i first learned of this song while watching MASH reruns when I arrived in Los Angeles in 1981.

the song is oddly soothing and calming, considering the introduction to a show about war. i did not learn its name until many years later. i was surprised to finally know the name of the song I found so soothing. it gave the melody an entirely new meaning for me. i often listen to it as I go to bed.
